November is the month of Black Friday, which means it’s time to get started on that holiday shopping (although I honestly start around October, because planning ahead is my personality). If you want to gift your bookish loved ones something other than another book that will lengthen their TBR, here are ten ideas to consider!
- Reading stands. Help your bookworm maintain good posture with a reading stand. We easily lose track of time reading a good book, and thinking about good posture is overtaken by switching into a variety of comfortable positions. This foldable wooden one is quite cute, but perhaps a lightweight metal one would suit the bookworms who enjoy reading out in cafes.
2. E-reader covers or sleeves. For your digitally-inclined bookworms, try a protective case or sleeve for their e-readers. I personally find this handmade leather sleeve from Etsy stunning, but these printed fabric ones are cute, too!
3. Tea or coffee sampler sets. All bookworms live up to the aesthetic of having a warm beverage while we read. Every single one of us. While I’m not a tea connoisseur, I can speak for TWG’s loose-leaf teas. I reckon these ones in the metal canisters don’t even need to be gift-wrapped. They’re so pretty on their own!
4. Beautiful mugs. Most bookworms enjoy having something to sip on while we read, especially now that we’re in the holiday season. Get them these beautiful mugs so they can put the tea or coffee sets you’re gifting them to good use. What? You’re getting them both, right? I recommend these gorgeous handmade ceramic coffee cups from Etsy, or these handmade stoneware mugs.
5. Book embosser. Having finite space to store books does not stop me from keeping hundreds of books at home. I think any bookworm who is serious about their personal libraries would really enjoy having this book embosser to legitimize their imprint on their collections!
6. Scented candles. Half of the joy of reading is the experience itself, from the warm socks to a warm beverage, and a cozy ambiance. Frankie General Store has a great selection of candles; I’m partial to these ones by Alexander Fragrance.
7. A cozy blanket. If you want to go the extra mile, get the one with sleeves. Just trust me on this.
8. Highlighters. Annotation is a great way to deepen engagement with your books. What better way to enjoy annotating other than with beautiful highlighters that don’t bleed ugly, glaring colors on the pages? I used these Stabilo ones in college and they appealed to my obsessive, Type A notetaker heart.
9. A page holder. For bookworms who love reading physical copies, a cute page holder will make their lives a lot easier. I personally find these cat ones from Etsy an absolute necessity.
And in case you’re wondering why I didn’t make this a list of “10 gifts”, it’s because my tenth suggestion would be rather obvious: gift them a book. There’s no way you can go wrong with that one.
Happy holiday shopping!
